T5C, HEATHROW

Terminal 5C is one of two satellite buildings that form part of the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow. DSSR also worked as services engineers on the main T5 building, designed by Richard Stirk Harbour & Partners and completed in 2008. Terminal 5C was completed on time in April 2011.

Operating as an airside building with its own arrival and departure gates, as well as numerous retail and CIP facilities, the satellite building is linked to the main terminal by a Tracked Transit System (TTS), where driverless trains will shuttle passengers to their gates.

On the project, many of the mechanical and electrical systems were required to interface with specialist airport systems. Site services infrastructure had to be integrated into existing Terminal 5 district networks, creating an interesting challenge that required rational M&E design solutions.
