Located in the heart of Glasgow overlooking the River Clyde, the 4-star Clyde View Hotel provides 182 bedrooms as well as conference suites, a bar, function hall, health spa and swimming pool.
The site is populated with buildings from different time periods and styles, ranging from Victorian to Georgian to 1960s. The design of the building responds heavily to this site context – the elevation is mirrored on the axis of the Portland Street suspension bridge, which crosses the river at this point, and the various datums and setbacks reflect existing lines and building heights along the riverfront.
DSSR's involvement on the project included developing low energy designs and providing comfort cooling throughout the hotel. DSSR also undertook the design of sprinkler systems and fire protection.
