Designed by architects Cooper Cromar, Tower 464 is a renovation of an existing 1960s tower block. The building sits on a major traffic artery into Glasgow city centre at the prominent junction of Pollokshaws Road and Albert Drive.
As opposed to a simple re-cladding job, the structure of the tower was altered and adapted to create a modern residential complex comprising 50 apartments, each with secure access and private lower ground parking. The building offers expansive views across Glasgow's skyline, particularly from the bright and airy double-height penthouse apartments situated on the top floor.
DSSR provided full design of mechanical, electrical, public health and lift engineering services, including the design of fire fighting lifts.
Tower 464 is one of several successful projects DSSR has worked on with Cooper Cromar architects, particularly in the residential sector, where DSSR has developed a great deal of experience.
The building won the Civic Trust Award in 2004, as well as other awards including the Aluminium in Renovation Award.
