MONTEVETRO

The Montevetro residential development in Battersea Reach, London, sits on the south side of the River Thames on a site formerly occupied by a 20th century flour mill. The prominent sequence of connected buildings varies in height from 4 storeys at one end to 20 storeys at the other. Vertical circulation is articulated on the outside of the building, with large stair and lift towers connecting the five blocks and eliminating the need for internal corridors. The building's stepped form maximises the waterfront aspect of the residential apartments – all 103 apartments have generous balconies overlooking the river.

The development also incorporates health and leisure club facilities in a separate adjacent low-rise block.

In 2002, Montevetro was given the Civic Trust Award commendation and the American Institute of Architects UK Chapter Excellence in Design Award honourable mention.

DSSR provided all mechanical, electrical, public health and lift services on the project, laying the foundations for a handful of successful projects undertaken with Richard Rogers Partnership.
