Forming the centrepiece of the Canary Wharf development in London's docklands, One Canada Square has become an iconic part of the London skyline over the past two decades. The design team included internationally-renowned architects Cesar Pellie and Adamson Associates, both of whom have worked on an extensive portfolio of high-rise office developments.
DSSR worked closely with Canadian and US-based consultants on the project, which was one of the first major high rise in the UK. This required North American codes familiar to the developer to be modified and developed to suit local regulations. Regular liaison with the local District Surveyor office was essential, particularly in relation to fire and life safety systems.
Below grade, the office building is connected to an extensive underground retail network which required detailed coordination with adjoining buildings.
DSSR has worked on other building projects at Canary Wharf, such as the DS5 Canary Wharf Tower for Citi.
