Completed in 2000, the iconic Emirates Towers in Dubai features two triangular skyscrapers, one an office tower and the other a 5-star luxury hotel. A podium that connects the two towers is home to the largest shopping centre in the city, and a lower-level car park provides 1800 spaces. When it was first built, the 350m tall office tower was the tallest building in the Middle East.
DSSR formed part of a worldwide design team, operating from London, Toronto and Sydney, with a site base in Dubai.
The towers are fully air conditioned throughout, with sophisticated monitoring and controls software providing maximum efficiency and flexibility. The hotel incorporates state-of-the-art communication, security and operating systems as well as intelligent lighting controls.
DSSR was also responsible for life safety engineering and fire suppression systems including sprinklers, smoke exhaust, voice alarm and staircase pressurisation.
