A development agreement between West Midlands Police and Tesco required a new £10 million 'state of the art' Local Command unit to be designed and constructed by Tesco as a 'turn-key' project for the Police Authority.
DSSR Consulting Engineers involvement extends back to an initial direct appointment with West Midlands Police, based on extensive experience in law and order project and specifically Police Headquarters, for the development of a performance brief document to be the basis of the Tesco design and build procurement, which then was converted into a monitor role appointment direct with Tesco Stores Ltd, and once construction was underway, this was extended to include a greater witnessing role for the commissioning of the mechanical and electrical installations for the specific purpose of ensuring a minimum post hand-over residual issues.
With the completion of the Police Station, it enables Tesco to occupy a former police site with a 14,000 square metre store, being 10% larger than their current biggest store, in conjunction with leisure facilities.
