DSSR was commissioned to work as M&E consultants for a £100m PFI contract for five new stations for the Metropolitan Police, including a Public Order & Firearms Training Centre. DSSR undertook the detailed design of all services for the police stations and the strategic design for the Firearms Training Centre.
The complex brief had to incorporate a wide variety of functions, including forensic examination rooms, gymnasiums, stables and prison cells, including specialised heating and ventilation requirements for cells and custody suites to meet high standards for anti-ligature and anti-vandalism.
The new Firearms Training Centre was completed in 2004 and is one of the most advanced training facilities in Europe.
