For their new command unit, Cumbria Constabulary wanted a highly sustainable building, and DSSR was commissioned to design and implement a number of renewable technology systems. The project utilises rainwater harvesting, solar hot water, a ground source heat pump and air source heat pump, together with intelligent automatic control Building Management Systems for lighting and ventilation which greatly helped to increase the energy performance of the building.
In addition to the full design of mechanical and electrical services, DSSR also undertook all thermal modelling calculations, BREEAM Assessment and Energy Performance Certification.
