Clydebank High School, with its distinctive green oval drum, is one of 4 schools being constructed as part of the West Dumbartonshire PFI schools programme. DSSR was appointed as lead services consultants on the design team, responsible for the detailed design of all mechanical and electrical services within the school.
Sustainability formed one of the core principles of the design – for the new-build project, DSSR designed a ground source heat pump system which provides a proportion of the building's heat. The school also houses state-of-the-art sports facilities, for which DSSR produced a series of dynamic thermal modelling simulations, for both natural and mixed-mode ventilation systems, to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions.
The project achieved a BREEAM rating of 'Excellent'.
