BRIMMOND PRIMARY SCHOOL

The new Brimmond School amalgamated Newhills and Bucksburn primary schools on a bigger site to accommodate the growing school-age population in the area.  This 5000 m2 new build primary and nursery school incorporates a CHP Unit and Photovoltaics into the M&E design package.  A nursery has also been incorporated into the school and with the design of the playground has allowed the nursery pupils to interact with primary one pupils.

The school boasts an adventure playground, woodland wildlife area, cycle track, basketball and netball courts and an all-weather, 3G sports pitch and there are also terraced areas on the first floor which can be used as outdoor classrooms.

The M&E design will minimise running costs throughout the life of the contract using simple but robust design solutions.

A CHP unit and photovoltaic panels have been incorporated into the design to minimise energy usage.   The design also incorporates a natural ventilation solution using mechanical inlet and outlet dampers to improve air quality and occupant comfort.

DSSR had full M&E design duties on this project and the completed building has achieved an EPC B+ rating.
