DSSR were the series consultants for Phase 1(a) for the development of the new Administration, Research and Knowledge Exchange (ARKE) Building at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye, following on from our success on the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture.
The building contains Teaching spaces; Research areas; Meeting/Conference facilities; Craft workshops and Office areas.
DSSR were involved in the site servicing and infrastructure to support the utility provision for the overall development which will eventually include 4 phases which include;
1. Infrastructure, education and enterprise, conferencing, sport and recreation.
2. Housing
3. Craft workshops/enterprise
4. Commercial
Within the ARKE Building DSSR were responsible for the services design which included, Biomass Boilers, Photovoltaic, Heating & Ventilation, Lighting & Small Power, Fire Alarms and Intruder alarms
DSSR also carried out a ‘Low & Zero Carbon Technologies Feasibility Report’ to determine the optimum solution for the preferred low zero carbon technology options available for the building.
