The contract with Robertson Capital Investments for Aberdeenshire Schools was the second phase in a multi-million pound capital investment in Education, and included 5 new build primary schools and one new build secondary school.
DSSR was involved from the concept design stage, working as part of the design team with architects Holmes Partnership. Central to the design of each of the schools was a focus on community – the inclusion of greater leisure facilities and library and nursery places helps to promote this sense of community and the idea of children 'coming together'.
During the construction stage, DSSR maintained a close relationship with the contractor on the design installation, with regular site inspections and an ongoing detailed review of contractor's proposals helping to ensure that the quality of the finished design meets the original high standards set for the project.
The last of the schools was completed in summer 2006.
