The project comprises over 1000 student beds, college for 600 students, Health Suite and workspace accommodation in a high rise development (21 storeys) close to Westminster Bridge and St Thomas’s Hospital.
The M&E Services installation includes combined heat and power and photovoltaic panels to comply with the local planning criteria for sustainability. Other measures taken in the sustainability strategy are enhanced thermal modelling, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, high efficiency lighting, variable speed pumps and low water flow fittings.
Balfour Beatty Regional were commissioned as the Design and Build Contractor and DSSR were appointed by Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Ltd to provide the detailed design of the Mechanical, Electrical Engineering Services. DSSR undertook thermal modelling and energy analysis to verify the energy strategy, confirm thermal comfort and to support the Part L Building Regulations submission.
